Timberwolves Ownership Dispute Moves into Mediation

Mediation Session to Determine Glen Taylor's Role

First Increment of Sale to E-commerce Mogul Complete

MINNEAPOLIS, March 28, 2023 (AP) - The Minnesota Timberwolves ownership dispute is moving into mediation. The first session towards determining whether Glen Taylor will be allowed to sell the team to e-commerce mogul Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez will take place in the coming weeks.

In a statement released by the team, Taylor said, "We look forward to working with the mediator to help us resolve this dispute fairly and equitably for all parties involved." Lore and Rodriguez did not immediately respond to AP's request for comment.

Taylor filed a lawsuit against Lore and Rodriguez last month, claiming they breached the purchase agreement by attempting to amend it without his consent. Lore and Rodriguez have denied the allegations.

The Timberwolves ownership dispute is the latest chapter in a long and tumultuous ownership saga for the team. Taylor has owned the team since 1994, and he has been looking to sell it for several years.

In 2021, Lore and Rodriguez agreed to buy the team for $1.5 billion, but the sale has been delayed by a number of issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the ownership dispute.

With the ownership dispute moving into mediation, it is unclear when or if the Timberwolves sale will be completed. However, the mediation process could provide a path to resolving the dispute and allowing the sale to move forward.
